Keeping Love In Lent
“I’m participating in the Keeping LOVE in LENT Blog Link-Up 2013, hosted by Raising (& Teaching) Little Saints, Truly Rich Mom and Arma Dei: Equipping Catholic Families. We’ll be sharing different ways, tips, stories and real-life experiences that will help us focus on Lenten sacrifices, prayer and good deeds, and how to carry them out with LOVE instead of a GRUMBLE. Please scroll down to the end of the post to see the list of link-up entries.”
So I’m thankful to be part of this project because already, I’m seeing the good fruits in my children (and me).
My kids are ages 8, 3, and 1.5 years. I had to think of something short, simple, and provides some sort of immediate positive reinforcement.

The “Love In Lent” Plan
1. Each letter will stand for a deed (just 10 easy deeds!).
2. For each deed done, a sticker will be awarded and stuck on the corresponding deed poster.
3. 1 sticker = $1.00
4. At the end of Lent, we will take the sum of the stickers/$$.
5. The total $$ will be donated to the toddler because she doesn’t have any money. Sorry about that. That’s what she said. Anywho, the money will be donated to our charity/cause of choice.
LOVE IN LENT
Listen carefully
Others before me
Video game vacation (apps included)
Exercise daily
Immediate action
Neatly put away my things
Lower my voice
Embrace often
Need before want
Take my nap
The point.
Jesus spent 40 days in the desert to prepare himself for us. So, we too will use our Lent for the benefit of others.
Not only will we develop good habits, we will also be actively and consciously doing good for our “neighbor”!
We’ve placed the posters in a folder so that we can continue to earn “love stickers” wherever we may be.
And here’s the cool part that the kids really like……..mommy and daddy has to do them too! Haha!
